About
The Weimaraner Club of Victoria Inc. is affiliated with DOGS Victoria
What the Club offers:
The club is for those Wei owners, admirers and gundog enthusiasts who wish to have contact with others who share their interests. Some of the benefits offered by club membership include:
Tattooing is available to all Weimaraner owners, this is an extremely useful practice as it makes it very easy to trace a dog that has been lost, rescued or involved in an accident. It is also a good theft deterrent.
Our Rescue section is just that; our dedicated rescue officers attempt to return dogs to their owners immediately where possible, or to new caring homes with a minimum of stress to the dogs.
Members can also promote their stud dogs and litters when they arrive. This can be done via the club magazine, the website, as well as through our Breed and Litter Information officers.
The club produces a magazine that contains informative articles, results from any of the club's events, schedules for upcoming events in the gundog calendar and anything that the editor feels may be of interest to our members. Advertisements are also accepted and may be arranged through contact with the Editor.
Our Breed and Research Funds provide for research facilities that improve and maintain the health of our breed, we attempt to obtain the most up to date information on methods being used to treat some of the problems that occur with our breed (Yes, we do have a few problems!). The research currently taking place is associated with Immune Deficiency and we urge all current and prospective owners to familiarize themselves with its features and ramifications. This syndrome can lay dormant for several years without detection.
Throughout the year the club conducts many events, these include our Championship Show, an Open Show, Retrieving and Obedience Trials, as well as training and workshop days. There are lots of pictures of previous events in the photos section.
These serve to help educate both new owners and trainee judges as well as provide social outings for the members and friends. We also hold General Meetings and social events for all those wanting to attend.
The committee is very willing to help in any way with queries or problems that arise, their experience covers more that 20 years involvement with the Weimaraner. It is a very dedicated, hard working and caring team, with which the Weimaraner comes first!
